Job Summary
Perform minor and major mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and inspections on district vehicles with minimal supervision, and service vehicles according to preventive maintenance schedules. Work with the lead mechanic to complete major repairs, maintain accurate maintenance records, fuel buses, and ensure safety by following established procedures. Must be able to read and interpret safety and operation manuals, pass DOT drug and alcohol tests and annual physicals, and communicate effectively. Holds a Texas CDL with P and S endorsements and has knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine maintenance and repair
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam
- Ability to access and use printed service materials
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to visually inspect and services vehicles
- Experience in bus maintenance and repair preferred
