Job Summary
Operate school buses and other transportation vehicles per the Putnam County Schools Job Description Handbook, adhering to pre-trip inspections 15 minutes prior to pullout time and post-trip checks. Manage routes in the Hurricane Area with variable assignments based on student transportation needs, working AM shifts from 6:30 am to 8:15 am and PM shifts from 2:15 pm to 4:35 pm. Complete required 40 hours of classroom training and 20 hours of behind-the-wheel training, maintain a Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements, and serve a 200-day term starting September 9, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Holds a high school diploma or GED or TASC
- Holds a Commercial Driver's License, Class B, Passenger and Airbrake Endorsements
- Passes the required physical examination
- Has three years of experience as a licensed driver
- Passes the Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record Check
- Passes the Drug/Alcohol Screening
- Completes 40 hours of required classroom training and 20 hours of behind the wheel training
- Holds First Aid/CPR Certification
- Holds a West Virginia School Bus Operator's Certificate
