Job Summary
The Bus Operations Control Center (BOCC) Supervisor/Controller role oversees day-to-day public transit bus operations from a centralized control center. Responsibilities include real-time monitoring of bus routes using dispatch systems and GPS, managing service disruptions, responding to emergencies, and ensuring on-time performance. Serves as primary contact for bus operators, maintenance teams, and supervisors; writes summary driver reports and prepares incident/operational reports. Coordinates with transit departments and external stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and integrated service; monitors KPIs, generates performance reports, and ensures compliance with safety regulations and transit policies. Requires CDL with Passenger endorsement (or ability to obtain during probation) and availability to work rotating shifts. Training period required to perform all job responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics, public administration, or related field (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in transportation operations, public transit, or related field
- Experience in control center, dispatch, or logistics coordination (highly desirable)
- Ability to use standard technology (e.g., Microsoft Office) and transportation systems/software
- CDL with Passenger endorsement or ability to obtain during probation
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
