Job Summary
Lift and carry students with disabilities on and off the bus, supervise boarding and street crossings, and guide children to their classrooms. Assist drivers with safety equipment, administer first aid if necessary, and maintain updated route schedules while keeping the bus clean. Manage student behavior, report discipline issues to administrators, and communicate daily with teachers and parents regarding conduct. Adapt to each student's unique medical, physical, and emotional needs while following established transportation and special education procedures. Work irregular hours as needed in varying temperatures and around moving vehicles.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively
- Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment
- Ability to work well with children with disabilities
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling
- Moderate lifting and carrying
- Work outside and inside
- Work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts
- Moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes
- Work irregular hours as needed
