Job Summary
Bus Monitor responsibilities include supervising and providing safe transportation for children, conducting daily health observations, securing medications for pickup and delivery, and ensuring children are properly restrained during loading/unloading. The role supports classroom staff by providing short-term relief, assisting in emergencies and evacuations, implementing bus rules, and engaging children in activities aligned with school readiness. The position acts as a liaison between parents and staff, may provide interpretation services, and supports recruitment and program activities across locations. Additional duties include helping maintain vehicle and facility cleanliness, attending trainings (including special needs and safety trainings), and complying with transportation policies and procedures. Proficiency in coordinating with teaching staff and understanding IEP/IFSP considerations is desirable, as is the ability to travel to trainings and other centers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED (Dependent on each state’s childcare licensing requirements)
- A CDA credential is also preferred and/or must enroll in the CDA for classroom coverage
- Ability to work irregular and flexible hours
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred – both oral and written
- Have dependable transportation to and from work
