Job Summary
Provide individual or small group instructional support under teacher supervision; assist with escorting students to and from the bus; support special needs students in classroom and transportation settings; help prepare instructional materials and set up equipment; assist with snacks, medication monitoring, lifting and transporting students, including securing wheelchairs and seat belts; perform clerical tasks, maintain a safe, organized learning environment, and support teachers to implement IEP-directed activities; maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards; require strong oral and written communication, stay aware of safety and first aid procedures, and comply with WVBE policies. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (and 100 pounds for certain transportation portions), stand, walk, and perform physical tasks; high school diploma or GED and First Aid/CPR certification are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (WV Code §18A-2-5)
- Successful completion of required service personnel competency testing (§18A-4-8e)
- Current First Aid/ CPR Certification
- Demonstrated ability to perform assigned duties
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff
