Job Summary
Bus Mechanic responsible for maintaining transportation vehicles to a high standard. Duties include overhauls of engines, transmissions, differentials and components; engine tune-ups; tire installation; electrical and body repairs; brake and steering system work; responding to road service calls; repairing seats, glass, mirrors, doors and other district vehicle components; ensuring regular attendance; and filling in as a bus driver when directed. Requires CDL Class B with Endorsements P and S and a KY School Bus Driver Certificate (or obtain within 90 days), physical and MVR checks, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work in a noisy environment.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience as a mechanic
- Possesses the physical and mental ability, as well as driving skills, to operate and drive a bus safely and satisfactorily
- Must pass a motor vehicle records (MVR) driving record check
- Meets required physical examination
- Holds a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B, Endorsements P and S that is valid for interstate driving and a Kentucky School Bus Driver Certificate or must obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B, Endorsements P and S that is valid for interstate driving and a KY School Bus Driver Certificate within ninety (90) days of employment
