Bus Drivers

Operate a school bus over designated routes following specified time schedules, picking up and discharging students at established stops under varying weather conditions. Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintenance including cleaning windows, mirrors, interior, and checking fuel, oil, water, brakes, and doors; report mechanical defects immediately. Maintain order and discipline among students while transporting them to school, special events, and field trips; assist in loading and unloading physically and mentally handicapped children, including securing wheelchairs. Execute emergency bus evacuation drills as required, administer first aid according to established guidelines, and use two-way radio for communication. Fuel and clean the exterior and interior of buses, sweep floors, wipe upholstery, and clean headlights. Maintain records concerning vehicle maintenance, miles driven, and number of children transported; prepare student conduct, incident, and accident reports. Attend safety and preventive emergency meetings when required.
