Job Summary
Operate the Shawnee Family YMCA passenger bus on designated school and field-trip routes under general supervision, ensuring safe and efficient transportation for students and staff. Responsibilities include daily vehicle inspections, picking up and discharging students, maintaining order and discipline, administering first aid as needed, conducting emergency bus evacuation drills, and using a cell phone for emergency communications. Must meet Oklahoma CDL School Bus Endorsement requirements, pass pre-employment physical and background checks, and sustain safe driving practices in varying road and weather conditions. Free YMCA membership included with employment.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class A or B CDL with a School Bus Endorsement
- Pre-employment physical examination
- Drug testing and random drug testing during employment
- Background check and clean driving record
- Ability to maintain vehicle in safe operating condition and perform daily inspections
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain order among students
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and regulations related to transporting children
