Job Summary
Drive school bus daily along assigned routes, adhering to schedules and managing extracurricular activities while anticipating traffic, weather, and road conditions. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain vehicle cleanliness and fuel levels, and report accidents, injuries, or mechanical issues with required documentation. Instruct students on safety protocols, supervise boarding and exiting, and manage discipline while ensuring proper use of emergency equipment. Operate two-way radios, utilize GPS for navigation, and complete accurate records for mileage and consumption. Maintain emotional control under stress and follow all district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Clear and valid Texas commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam
- Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to use maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to follow routes and locate addresses
- Ability to manage student behavior
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to operate bus
