Job Summary
Operate a school bus transporting students to and from school, activities, and events while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, report equipment deficiencies, clean the bus interior and exterior, fuel the vehicle, and conduct emergency evacuation drills. Maintain passenger discipline, complete disciplinary forms as needed, and record mileage. Ensure student safety and assist children using patience and understanding. This part-time role involves a 10-month term with morning and afternoon shifts, requiring a valid NC commercial driver's license with passenger and bus endorsements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid commercial driver's license with passenger and bus endorsement in the State of North Carolina
- Must hold Commercial Driver's License with P and S Endorsement
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to detect malfunctioning equipment
- Ability to assist children using patience and understanding
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, associates, students, parents and the general public
- General knowledge of operating a school bus
- General knowledge of the geography of the District and the location of streets
- Skill in the safe operation of a school bus
- At least 6 months of driving experience as a licensed operator of a motor vehicle
