Job Summary
Part-time Bus Driver responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of school pupils within the State of Ohio, including performing pre-trip safety checks, maintaining routes and schedules, ensuring pupil discipline and public relations, and complying with state regulations and district policies. The role requires a CDL endorsement and bus driver certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, physical qualification via annual physical, and completion of required training. Work involves 4 hours per day (AM and PM shifts) with emphasis on safety, documentation, and coordination with the transportation supervisor and Frontline/AESOP systems. The driver will promote student safety and operate in accordance with board policies, state regulations, and district expectations, including emergency drills, reporting procedures, and maintaining professional appearance and conduct.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with CDL endorsement; bus drivers' certificate
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must meet requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and the district's Board Policy
- Completion of satisfactory pre-employment driver's training program, and basic bus driver's education program
- Be physically qualified as determined by annual physical examination required by the State of Ohio
- Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community
- Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance
- Good health, high moral character and good attendance record
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students
- Complete safety checks and pre-trip inspections; maintain routes, schedules and pupil safety
- Maintain pupil control and report any violations; promote good public relations
- Attend bus driver meetings and annual inservice program
- Prepare reports, route maps, schedules and accident reports as required by state and district policies
- Shall conduct emergency evacuation drills and assist in field trips as needed
- Shall ensure bus cleanliness and safe operating conditions
- Follow reporting procedures for accidents and malfunctions
- Occasional exposure to blood/bodily fluids and inclement weather conditions
