Job Summary
Operate a school bus or van transporting regular and special education students over scheduled routes to and from school and field trips in a safe and timely manner. Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, check safety devices, maintain cleanliness, and properly operate assistive technology including ramps and lifts. Prepare reports, route maps, and student lists; conduct safety and evacuation drills as required. Maintain passenger behavior, report disciplinary violations, and take precautions to protect students and equipment. Notify supervisors of road hazards, layovers, and delays, and assist with other routes during breakdowns. Meet professional expectations for attendance, attire, and participation in district meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
- Flexible Hours
- Self-directed and ability to follow directions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Physical stamina and good attendance record
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Hold a valid CDL with School Bus Endorsement
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds
- Must be able to bend, stoop and reach
- Must remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace
