Job Summary
Provide behind-the-wheel training, driver assessments, and performance evaluations for school bus drivers and district personnel. Conduct classroom instruction on equipment, regulations, and best practices while monitoring safety and compliance data. Assist with driver recruitment, screening, and required transportation safety programs. Safely operate district vehicles, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and follow assigned routes. Manage student behavior, assist with boarding and exiting, and execute emergency procedures including evacuations. Collaborate with staff, complete documentation, and maintain assigned vehicles through fueling and cleaning.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with 'S' endorsement
- Pass the Colorado Department of Education School Bus Operator's Test (written and skills)
- Meet District insurability requirements
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Current Certified Bus Instructor and Certified Defensive Driver certificates (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Previous bus driving experience
