Job Summary
Provide safe and timely on-campus and off-campus transportation assistance to Lakeview residents. Assist other staff members for resident/community events as needed. Maintain a Class B or Class C Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsements and current CPR certification. Interpret bus schedules and learn bus mechanics while demonstrating excellent safety judgement and problem-solving skills. Work independently with good communication abilities and an empathetic approach to the elderly. Lakeview Village is a continuing care retirement community dedicated to providing aging adults with a lifestyle and quality services.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Class B or Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsements
- Current CPR certification
- Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment
- Ability to balance, or maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, wet or slippery surfaces
- Ability to lift objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally form position to-position
- Ability to talk or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Ability to hear the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, making discriminations in sound

- Demonstrates good communications skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with a fluent understanding of English
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks appropriately, and exercise sound judgement where procedures cannot be standardized
- Demonstrate excellent safety judgement and problem-solving skills
- Ability to administer and follow straightforward written or verbal instructions
- Ability to interpret bus schedules
- Ability to learn the mechanics of a bus
- Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly
- Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others
