Job Summary
Coordinate and conduct daily bus maintenance, including seasonal inspections, routine upkeep, and final vehicle checks. Perform daily walk-around inspections before and after use, report issues via the Bus Repair & Maintenance Form, and replenish health and first aid supplies. Maintain accurate inventory lists of janitorial supplies, ensure proper chemical storage and mixing, and follow bloodborne pathogens policies for spills. Transport and supervise children during routes, parent meetings, and field trips, conducting safety checks and reporting concerns to the Center Manager. Maintain the center's cleanliness and sanitation, manage outside grounds including lawn care and snow removal, and inspect playground equipment daily. Assist with recruitment, provide T/TA to other locations, and participate in monthly evacuation drills. Develop bus routes in coordination with Family Services and Center Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a valid CDL Certification with passenger and school bus endorsements
- Ability to work irregular and/or flexible hours
- Be insurable in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations
- Must have a reliable car
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must have adequate insurance
- Must submit to a pre-employment drug/alcohol test
- Must complete a TB test screening showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment
- Must complete approved SIDS & Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children
- Must complete Fire Extinguisher Training
- Must complete Infant/Child CPR and First Aid upon hire or prior to transporting children
- Must have a current DOT physical
- Must possess a current DOT medical card
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 40 lbs. regularly
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in transporting young children preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
