Job Summary

Coordinate and conduct maintenance of vehicles including seasonal start up, routine, and final inspections. Perform daily walk around inspections of vehicles prior to and after use, report problems via Bus Repair & Maintenance Form, and replenish health and first aid supplies. Maintain an inventory list of janitorial supplies, ensure proper chemical storage per Hazard Communication Program, and handle contagious spills using blood borne pathogens procedures. Maintain a current list of children transported for daily attendance and accountability. Conduct child safety checks at route start and end, ensuring children are secured and reporting concerns to the Center Manager. Serve as a liaison between families and staff by reporting family information or concerns to core team members. Complete all required paperwork, including tracking vehicle operating expenditures and maintenance repairs. Participate in monthly bus evacuation drills, document results, and submit reports. Maintain the center in a clean and sanitary condition per cleaning schedules, including emptying trash, sanitizing bathrooms, and conducting monthly HVAC upkeep. Maintain outside building grounds, including lawn cutting, fence trimming, and snow removal. Conduct daily playground inspections, removing debris and documenting findings. Transport and supervise children and parents during meetings, field trips, and clinics. Assist with recruiting children with disabilities and provide T/TA to other locations. Develop bus routes in coordination with Family Services and Center Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess a valid CDL Certification with passenger and school bus endorsements
  • Be insurable in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations
  • Have a reliable car
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Have adequate insurance
  • Be able to work irregular and/or flexible hours
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 40 lbs. regularly
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug/alcohol test
  • Must complete a TB test screening showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment
  • Must complete approved SIDS & Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children
  • Must complete Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Must complete Infant/Child CPR and First Aid upon hire or prior to transporting children
  • Must have a current DOT physical and possess a current DOT medical card or complete a DOT physical exam prior to transporting children

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in transporting young children
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
