Job Summary
Coordinate and conduct maintenance of vehicles including seasonal start up inspections, routine maintenance, and final inspections. Conduct daily walk around inspections of vehicle(s) prior to and after use, report problems through the Bus Repair & Maintenance Form, and replenish health and first aid supplies. Maintain an inventory list of janitorial supplies, ensure proper chemical storage per Hazard Communication Program, and utilize blood borne pathogens procedures for contagious spills. Maintain a current list of children transported for accountability and security, participating in child safety checks at route beginnings and endings. Serve as a liaison between families and program staff by reporting family information or concerns to the Center Manager. Complete all required paperwork tracking vehicle operating expenditures, maintenance repairs, and evacuation drill results. Maintain the center in a clean and sanitary condition per cleaning schedules and UMOS procedures, including emptying trash, sanitizing bathrooms, and conducting monthly upkeep of HVAC systems. Maintain outside building grounds through lawn cutting, fence trimming, power washing, and snow removal when necessary. Conduct daily playground inspections, removing debris or harmful plants, and submit Daily Playground Inspection Forms to the Center Manager. Transport and assist with supervision of children and parents during parent meetings, field trips, and health clinics. Provide support or T/TA to other locations with travel requirements and develop bus routes in coordination with Family Services and Center Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a valid CDL Certification with passenger and school bus endorsements
- Be insurable in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations
- Have a reliable car
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have adequate insurance
- Have a current DOT physical
- Possess a current DOT medical card or complete a DOT physical exam prior to transporting children
- Submit to a pre-employment drug/alcohol test
- Complete a TB test screening showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment or sooner as required by local/state regulation
- Complete approved SIDS & Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children
- Complete Fire Extinguisher Training
- Complete Infant/Child CPR and First Aid upon hire or prior to transporting children
- Position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 40 lbs. regularly

Desired Qualifications
- Experience in transporting young children preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
