Job Summary
Bus Driver for the 2026-2027 school year at Omaha Public Schools (OPS), full-time non-exempt, with a split morning and afternoon schedule. Drives school vehicles on scheduled routes and field trips, transports students including wheelchair-bound students, performs pre-trip inspections, services and cleans vehicles, and completes required forms and reports. Requires compliance with attendance during paid training and successful completion of OPS safety and driver-training requirements (CDL, School Bus permit, and related certifications).
Required Qualifications
- Must be minimum of 21 years of age
- Must have a High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and minimum of three (3) years driving experience and demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test
- Successful completion of the Student Transportation Bus Driver Training Program including: NE DMV - Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), NE DMV – School Bus Driver’s permit, Registration with the Federal Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, and First Aid/CPR training
- Must meet OPS insurability requirements
- Evidence of understanding and willingness to comply with the practices and procedures cited in the Handbook for Transportation Employees
