Job Summary
Drive a school bus following assigned routes while obeying traffic laws and mandatory safety regulations. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections for mechanical defects, maintain student discipline, and enforce policies against tobacco or drug use on board. Discharge students only at authorized stops and exercise responsible leadership during school trips. Report all accidents, mechanical failures, or tardiness immediately to the transportation office and complete required forms. Maintain a clean, orderly bus and wear the prescribed uniform at all times. Meet with the supervisor annually to review procedures and attend all required safety and training sessions. Comply with all written official policies of the transportation department, school board, and State Board of Education. Maintain effective working relationships with employees, parents, and the public.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of approved training course for the school bus driver
- valid Florida commercial driver's license and all other required licenses to drive a school bus
- Completion of, and successfully passing, a physical examination by a school boardapproved physician
- Experience as a school board substitute bus driver
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening
