Bus Driver -East Albemarle Elementary (Part Time)

Job Summary
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the school bus, reporting equipment deficiencies. Transport students to and from school, activities, and events while ensuring passenger safety and maintaining discipline. Clean the vehicle inside and out, including washing, sweeping, and trash removal. Fuel the bus as needed and conduct periodic emergency evacuation drills. Obey traffic laws and safety regulations while recording mileage and maintaining operational records. Perform related duties as assigned by the Transportation Route Coordinator. Requires a valid NC commercial driver's license with passenger and bus endorsements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 6 months of driving experience as a licensed operator of a motor vehicle
- Must be 18 years of age
- Valid commercial driver's license with passenger and bus endorsement in the State of North Carolina
- Must hold Commercial Driver's License with P and S Endorsement
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to detect malfunctioning equipment
- Ability to assist children using patience and understanding
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, associates, students, parents and the general public
- General knowledge of operating a school bus
- General knowledge of the geography of the District and the location of streets
- Skill in the safe operation of a school bus
