Job Summary
Drive assigned bus routes, including pre- and post-trip cleaning and fueling, while transporting students and adults to school and extra-curricular events. Perform general cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping, and maintaining building safety by securing windows, doors, and ensuring life safety items are serviceable. Recognize and properly handle hazardous materials in accordance with Maine DOT rules and Material Safety Data Sheets. Report any problems to the Head Custodian promptly and work unsupervised during building coverage for events outside school hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a Class B motor vehicle license with a school bus endorsement.
- Must have Maine CHRC fingerprinting and Background check.
- Able to work unsupervised.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instruction with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of Maine DOT rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of emergency management and evacuation plans.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in custodial cleaning and bus driving preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their proper uses and safety requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials, to include recognizing them and their proper use/disposal.
