Job Summary
Drive a school bus following assigned routes while performing pre- and post-trip inspections for mechanical defects. Maintain student discipline, enforce safety regulations, and ensure all passengers are transported only to authorized stops. Report any accidents, vehicle failures, or tardiness immediately to the transportation office and complete required forms. Adhere to all traffic laws, school board policies, and state regulations while maintaining a clean, orderly bus. Exercise responsible leadership on school trips and attend mandatory safety and training sessions. Meet with supervisors annually to review procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of approved training course for the school bus driver
- valid Florida commercial driver's license and all other required licenses to drive a school bus
- Completion of, and successfully passing, a physical examination by a school boardapproved physician
- Experience as a school board substitute bus driver
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening
