Job Summary
Review daily bus assignments and locations with the routing coordinator or school designee. Consult on route improvements to ensure safer and more economical operations. Supervise bus monitors, assign student seats, and maintain up-to-date rosters and seating charts. Provide written reports of road hazards or unsafe passenger stops. Implement all safety procedures, attend scheduled safety meetings, and assist new drivers in learning regulations. Follow all state, local laws, and district policies governing school bus operation.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Must hold a valid South Carolina driver's license with 3 years of driving experience
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License - CDL (Class B with P & S endorsements)
- Must be able to obtain a South Carolina School Bus Certificate
- Able to pass a DOT physical, Drug Screen, Physical Performance Test (PPT), vision exam, and the background qualifications process
- Must be cleared through the Clearing Hours
- Must possess skills in preparing route descriptions and read and produce route maps
