Job Summary
Operate buses in the Concord Area Transit system, maintaining high safety standards and adhering to all local, State, and Federal regulations. Follow established routes and schedules while managing passenger itinerary changes and two-way radio communications. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and performance, assist passengers with disabilities, and report incidents or breakdowns to supervisors immediately. Train substitute drivers as requested and comply with all drug and alcohol testing policies. Requires a valid NH CDL-B with passenger and air brake endorsements, one year of bus driving experience, and a DOT medical card. Full-time position Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours daily, at $21.08 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or the equivalent
- Valid NH CDL-B with passenger and air brake endorsements
- Current DOT medical card
- Certificate of Completion for driver training courses (Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance and Emergency Evacuation)
- At least 1 year of bus driving experience
- Experience transporting passengers
- Ability to be polite and courteous at all times in dealing with passengers and negotiating traffic
- Ability to use own discretion in operating during adverse weather conditions
- Ability to inform immediate supervisor of adverse weather conditions
- Ability to report incidents/accidents to immediate supervisor, Director or proper authorities
- Ability to adhere to all emergency procedures
- Ability to report breakdowns to dispatcher and immediate supervisor
- Ability to adhere to breakdown procedures
- Ability to train substitute drivers as requested
- Reliable source of transportation
- Compliance with Agency policies on undergoing criminal record checks with the Bureau of Elder and Adult Services and NH Department of Safety Division of State Police
- Passing Agency Drug & Alcohol pre-employment testing
- Willingness to participate in random drug and alcohol testing as established by Agency Drug & Alcohol policies for safety sensitive employees
- Department of Motor Vehicle records that is compliant with the loss control requirements established by the Agency's insurance carrier
