Job Summary
Operate as a full-time substitute bus driver for the district, performing duties of the regular and special needs driver and providing clerical, custodial, camera, and bus maintenance support as needed. Drive school buses to pick up and drop off students, adhere to routes and schedules, transport to extracurricular activities and field trips, monitor two-way radio communications, conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, report accidents or incidents, keep the bus clean and fueled, and assist with student safety and emergency evacuations. Requires a High school diploma or GED and a valid Texas Class B CDL with P & S Endorsement, plus ability to pass required safety trainings, alcohol/drug tests, and annual physicals; demonstrated computer proficiency and ability to manage student behavior; one year of certified school bus driving experience; and willingness to work varied shifts. Reports to the Director of Transportation; describes essential functions, safety standards, and collaboration with transportation leadership.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Class B CDL with P & S Endorsement
- Must be 18 years of age
- Satisfactory driving record
- One year of experience as certified school bus driver
