Job Summary
Operate school buses daily while adhering to Michigan Commercial Driver License (CDL) requirements with B/P/S endorsements. Complete state-approved safety training or advanced driver classes within the preceding two years and pass a Road Skills Test approved by the Michigan Department of Education. Maintain a current Medical Examiner Certificate and demonstrate physical capability to handle all school vehicles. Ensure regular and reliable in-person attendance while possessing knowledge of bus mechanics and State of Michigan laws. Interact effectively with others and adapt to changing work requirements. This role supports the district's transportation needs for student safety and mobility.
Required Qualifications
- Michigan Commercial Driver License (CDL) requirements with B/P/S endorsement and any other endorsements that may be required by law
- Enrolled in a state approved Beginning School Bus Driver Safety class
- Successfully completed a State approved Beginning School Bus Driver Safety class within the preceding two years
- Successfully completed a State approved Six Hour Advanced School Bus Driver class within the preceding two years
- Successful completion of a Road Skills Test approved by the Michigan Department of Education
- Current State of Michigan School Bus Driver Medical Examiner Certificate
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Physically capable to handle all school vehicles
- Regular and reliable in person attendance
- Knowledge of the mechanics of driving a bus
- Knowledge of State of Michigan law and requirements
- Able to interact well with others
- Adaptable to changing work requirements
