Job Summary
Full-time substitute bus driver for Abilene Public Schools in Abilene, KS. Responsibilities include providing clean, safe, and reliable transportation to ensure students benefit from district programs, complying with state school transportation guidelines, and communicating effectively with the school district and community. Requires operating all vehicles and equipment, maintaining assigned schedules, reporting incidents, and following district health and safety policies. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid CDL with endorsements, health/inoculation certificate and post-offer physicals, CPR and First Aid certification, at least one year of driving experience, and successful completion of behind-the-wheel training, with ongoing career development encouraged. Term of employment is at will; duties cover dispatch, safety, and adherence to district regulations and policies during transportation operations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made). Complete state-required physical examination for Bus Drivers (after employment offer is made).
- Valid CDL license with required endorsements.
- Meet all State requirements for Bus Drivers, including Defensive Driving, CPR and First Aid Certification
- At least one year experience in driving some type of motor vehicle (which may be a private automobile), including experience throughout each of the four seasons.
- Successfully complete behind-the-wheel training.
- Desire to continue career improvements by enhance skills and job performance.
