Job Summary
Operates a school bus on assigned routes and schedules to provide safe, efficient transportation; performs pre- and post-trip inspections, adheres to traffic laws and school bus regulations, maintains discipline for students, completes required reports, and secures the bus at the end of a run. Requires maintaining knowledge of safety standards, ability to adapt to schedule changes, and ensuring passenger safety and orderly conduct; must inspect for mechanical issues, report defects, and coordinate with bus coordinators and school personnel. CDL with P and S endorsements and high school graduation are required; position involves frequent safety-focused tasks and interaction with students and parents.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Valid North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with both the P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements
- Some experience driving large vehicles
- Experience transporting humans (preferred)
