Job Summary
Assist bus drivers in supervising students, maintaining effective discipline, and ensuring orderly boarding and departure. Care for the needs of young or disabled students, including helping them board and depart safely. Resolve problems with students and react to frequent interruptions in a productive manner while observing all district policies. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Support Services or Transportation Coordinator. Work indoors and outdoors in noisy, crowded environments with extensive travel, including prolonged sitting and physical exertion to move heavy objects. Complete annual training and pass required health and drug screenings.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with staff members of the school district and community
- Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times
- Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned
- Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
- Must complete annual training required by district
- Must verify good health by passing a physical examination, which includes TB and drug test as required
- Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential
- Extensive travel required
- Must work indoors and outdoors during the school year
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions
- Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors
- Ability to safely operate all equipment and machinery related to specific job duties
- Ability to assist bus drivers in supervising students
- Ability to maintain effective student discipline
- Ability to ensure students board and depart the bus orderly
- Ability to assist young or disabled students in boarding and departing the bus
- Ability to care for the needs of disabled students
- Ability to assist bus drivers in resolving problems with students
- Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous and timely manner
