Job Summary
Bus Aide for Omaha Public Schools (part-time) assists the driver by attending to student needs aboard the vehicle, aids with loading, monitoring, and unloading of students, and follows established safety protocols. Responsibilities include transporting students, including those with special needs, and maintaining order and safety in accordance with school district policies. The role requires validating and applying instructions, interacting with a diverse student population, and ongoing professional development through attendance at seminars or trainings. The position is a classified part-time non-exempt role with a 5.5-hour block schedule, Monday through Friday, and may involve local travel.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 19 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Successful completion of pre-employment functional capacity evaluation, physical and drug/alcohol screening.
- Successful completion of the Student Transportation Bus Aide Training Program including: First Aid/CPR training.
- Must be able to attend the Bus Aide Training Class.
- Evidence of understanding and willingness to comply with the practices and procedures cited in the Handbook for Transportation Employees.
