Job Summary
Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation. Instructs and supervises students in and out of the classroom; reports to work promptly; protects confidential information; develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning; prepares for classes; may work in a co-teaching classroom to provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities; communicates effectively with students and parents; adheres to school rules and policies; maintains records; collaborates with staff on instructional goals; may be assigned to multiple grade levels; participates in committees and co-curricular activities; may be required to administer health services in absence of health professional; commitments to professional growth and compliance with state/federal regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in field of assignment
- Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment
- Special Education Certification based on vacancy needs (LBD/MSD/Visually Impaired/Hearing Impaired)
- Preferred: Experience with students in area of certification
- Knowledge Of: Basic computer skills; Curriculum, instruction and assessment; Short and long-range planning; Record-keeping; Oral and written communication; Laws, rules and regulations; Special Education paperwork; Pedagogy;
- Location: VARIES BASED ON ASSIGNMENT
- Contracted Days: 186
- Hours Per Day: Varies based on assigned location
- Successful completion of post-offer pre-employment screenings are required
- Contracts are with the district of Daviess County Public Schools-not with individual locations
- Location assignments are subject to change
- 1. Certified employee with year-to-year contract until continuing contract is granted
- 2. Participates in Kentucky Teacher’s Retirement System (KTRS)
