Job Summary
Provide virtual language instruction to improve foreign language proficiency across listening, reading, and speaking (ILR 3/3/3) via DLPT/OPI assessments; teach regional and cultural topics using blended-learning methods; develop lesson plans and instructional materials; assess and tailor instruction to student levels; maintain a professional online learning environment; collaborate with designated Managers to address curriculum needs; requires US citizenship and access to necessary hardware and a reliable internet connection; supports English language qualifications and DLPT/OPI-based proficiency assessments; preferred experience with online platforms (CL-150, Adobe Connect, Canvas, Moodle) and adult-learning instruction.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen
- Educated native speaker of Burmese or near-native capability in listening, reading, and speaking with ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent
- Experience providing foreign language instruction through a virtual environment
- Understanding of the cultural, social, and political environment of the foreign language region
- Experience creating blended learning lessons and tailoring materials to customer needs
- Access to a computer with Windows, Webcam, Headset with a Microphone, cellular phone or smart tablet, and a high-speed internet connection
- English Language Qualifications: ILR level 2+ or ACTFL Advanced-High or equivalent; TOEFL/TOEIC or ECL scores as specified (TOEFL PBT 553 or iBT 83+, ECL 82+, OPI Advanced-Low or ILR 2+, etc.)
- Target language qualifications demonstrating proficiency (OPI or OPI-based assessment, ACTFL-certified interview, or Defense Language Proficiency Test)
- Desired qualifications include experience with CL-150, Adobe Connect, Canvas, Moodle; experience instructing adult learners in L/R/S and DLPT/OPI
