Job Summary

Adjunct research scientist at Coastal MicroEco Lab: manage lab computational infrastructure, develop amplicon and metagenomic pipelines, train students (half-day in-person workshop) on pipelines, and analyze existing datasets for rapid publication. Maintain and design laboratory computational and bioinformatics standards and protocols; conduct computational analysis on existing datasets; develop pipelines for amplicon and metagenomic analyses; work with students to ensure pipelines meet analysis needs. Requires PhD and at least two years of related experience, with strong bioinformatics and data science qualifications including machine learning and HPC, coding in R or other statistical programming language. Compensation: $45 per hour (annualized to $93,600). Location: University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH (on-site).

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in microbial ecology, natural resources, ecosystem science, biogeochemistry
  • at least two years of experience related to the area of research
  • Strong bioinformatics and data science qualifications including machine learning, HPC computing expertise, coding in R, or other statistical programming language
  • Expertise in computational microbial ‘omics analyses (previous hands-on experience of laboratory analyses preferred)
