Job Summary
Operate vehicles safely while transporting farm produce and equipment, adhering to all DOT rules and Heartland Farms policies. Conduct daily vehicle inspections, perform routine maintenance on fluids and air systems, and manage all required paperwork. Drive in close proximity with other farm equipment using bulk truck systems, including live-bottom conveyance and tarping mechanisms. Report to work as scheduled, maintaining physical and mental readiness for on-site duties in multiple locations. This seasonal role requires significant flexibility with hours, including potential 60+ week weeks, and demands a valid operator's license with at least two years of experience driving potato harvest bulk trucks.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Knowledge of basic computer skills
- Must have a valid and current operator's license with a clean record
- Multi-tasking
- Detail-oriented & goal-driven
- Requires the ability to work on-site and in multiple locations and settings
- Requires the ability to climb into and out of the Bulk Truck cab, operate tarping equipment, and use the bulk truck unloading mechanism throughout their workday
- Requires the ability to clearly understand verbal and written communication from others in person and by telephone
- Must be able to work as needed, which requires significant flexibility in hours per day/week and in the times worked
- 60+ hour weeks are not uncommon
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of driving Potato Harvest Bulk Trucks is preferred
- Experience driving farm equipment and commercial trucks with air brakes in similar environments is a plus
