Job Summary
Conduct daily field activities including excavation, trench preparation, jobsite cleanup, material handling, and equipment spotting to support underground utility work. Operate vacuum excavation vehicles for vertical location of utilities while maintaining traffic control setups and stocking vehicles with supplies. Follow direct supervision to complete tasks safely, ensuring compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and reporting hazards to supervisors. Perform general labor duties such as digging, spreading, and leveling materials, requiring the ability to work in confined spaces and varying weather conditions. Maintain regular attendance and uphold company values of Communication, Mutual Respect, and Accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to perform general labor tasks safely and effectively
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors and crew members
- Ability to use hand tools, small power tools, and basic construction equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions
- Ability to follow safety rules and maintain awareness of jobsite hazards
- Valid California driver's license preferred
- OSHA 10 preferred (or must obtain after hire)
- Designating/locating experience a plus, but not required
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- 0–1 year of general construction or labor experience preferred
- Experience in underground utilities or civil construction preferred
