Job Summary
Part-time maintenance technician for a museum facilities team tasked with daily operations, facility and exhibit maintenance, and support for temporary exhibitions and capital projects. Responsibilities include opening/closing facilities, inspecting interior/exterior spaces and exhibits, preventative maintenance, executing work orders, assembling and maintaining exhibits, troubleshooting facilities and exhibit issues, coordinating with custodial and other departments, equipment setup for events, receiving and delivering packages, and ensuring safety and security procedures. Requires experience with diagnosing/troubleshooting electronic components, familiarity with metals/plastics/CNC, basic computer skills, woodworking, and ability to interpret safety and instructional documents. Must have a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent) and a valid NC or SC driver’s license. Travel to other museum locations also required; office is in Charlotte, NC. Location-specific duties include fabrication shop work, equipment handling, and adherence to DPI values.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or one to two years related experience and/or training
- Experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting/repairing electronic components
- Must have a valid NC or SC driver’s license
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
