Job Summary
Buildings Equipment Mechanic needed to maintain Verizon’s building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and related mechanicals. Responsibilities include starting, operating, repairing and maintaining heating/air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, locksmith, electrical and other building-related systems; installing, repairing and calibrating pneumatic and electric controls; performing inspections; interpreting work orders and drawings; adhering to Verizon safety practices; and performing tasks within physical requirements. Work hours are 7am–4pm, Monday–Friday with possible overtime. Requires an Associate degree or equivalent certification, 2+ years’ experience, EPA Universal Technician Certification, valid driver’s license, OSHA safety compliance, medical evaluation, ability to lift up to 100 lbs, and ability to work per union tours. The salary can be as high as $53.14/hour, with location-based adjustments; weekly wage range for listed locations is $776.50 – $2,125.50. For part-time roles, compensation is adjusted to hours worked.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) year Associate degree or equivalent certification from a technical or vocational school in ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in ventilating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance
- Universal Technician Certification as designated by EPA regulations-40 CFR Part 82 Subpart H
- Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Tests - Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy
- Must meet safety-related requirements including but not limited to those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers and/or the company
- Medical evaluation is required
- Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying and maneuvering heavy equipment weighing up to 100 lbs
- Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the needs of the business
- Associates may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, non-scheduled and non-consecutive days, as the needs of the business require
