Job Summary
Provide skilled maintenance, repair, and physical labor to keep Lake Superior College facilities, equipment, and grounds operational, safe, and aesthetically maintained. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, assessing required repairs, replacing parts, repairing and adjusting machinery, monitoring HVAC systems and the Medisys control system, developing and documenting preventive maintenance routines/logs for boilers and HVAC, overseeing helpers, and performing grounds work adaptable to seasonal changes. The role requires knowledge of boilers, general trades (mechanics, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding), adherence to safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA), and the ability to operate tools and heavy equipment; the position is essential during disasters and may involve recall.
Required Qualifications
- valid State of Minnesota 1st Class boilers license or above
- Knowledge of general methods in trades (mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry)
- OSHA, EPA, MPCA, NFPA safety regulations
- Ability to operate hand and power tools and physically demanding tasks
- Ability to operate trucks, tractors, and grounds equipment
- Ability to supervise helpers and provide work instructions
