Job Summary
On-site Building Systems Technician role based in Secaucus, NJ, responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the building systems that support ZT’s 24x7 manufacturing environment, including major electrical systems, HVAC/chiller plant, and generators. Use Building Management System to remotely monitor performance, ensure preventive maintenance is performed, engage maintenance contractors when required, and coordinate with Operations Team to resolve issues. Responsibilities include monitoring critical power, environmental and building systems; maintaining uptime of HVAC, generators, and electrical distribution; identifying and resolving issues with stakeholders; taking daily readings; following predictive, planned, or preventive maintenance schedules; supervising vendors during maintenance; managing spare parts inventory; supporting startup, commissioning and integration of new equipment; and providing recommendations to the Facility Engineering Manager for additional resources. The role requires a technical background in mechanical/HVAC and electrical building systems, and factory certifications for chillers, cooling towers, and generators, with a base salary between $72,800 and $87,500 annually and a comprehensive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a trade school certification in a technical field or equivalent practical experience in mechanical / HVAC systems and controls.
- Experience with centrifugal chillers preferred.
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
- A collaborative approach to problem solving.
- An ownership mentality to facility system performance and uptime.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and contractors.
- Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise.
- Ability to climb and work on platforms, ladders and under raised floors.
- Possess and maintain any required factory certifications for Chiller, Cooling Tower, and Generator maintenance.
