Job Summary
Building Systems Specialist responsible for operation, maintenance, and performance of district building systems with a focus on HVAC and BAS. Monitor and manage BAS to ensure efficient HVAC operations, schedule HVAC activities for events and after-hours, diagnose deficiencies, and conduct regular safety and equipment inspections (elevators, fire suppression, extinguishers, range hoods, gym equipment). Collaborate with district staff, vendors, and contractors to implement energy-saving initiatives and support sustainability goals. Provide seasonal support including snow and ice removal and assist with moving district resources. Requires HVAC/BAS experience, electrical knowledge, strong diagnostics, independent work capability, and effective communication; valid driver’s license required.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in HVAC systems and/or Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Working knowledge of electrical systems
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Minimum of 2 years HVAC experience preferred
- Intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with BAS software, data management tools, and general office software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Valid Class E Driver’s License (or ability to obtain)
- Must be a self-starter with strong time-management skills
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in HVAC, BAS, or related technical field
- Experience in school or institutional facility environments
- Familiarity with energy management systems
