Building Surveyor (Advisory)

Job Summary

Conduct various types of building surveys, including planning and building regulations applications, tender document preparation, and contract administration using NEC3 suites. Deliver client-facing advisory services to a high standard while managing multiple tasks and deadlines. Perform condition and defect surveys, asset capture exercises, IC and construction monitoring, fire risk assessments, and compliance audits across education, healthcare, local authority, defence, or commercial sectors. Prepare concise technical reports and understand the financial and legal impact of work. Support investors, funders, and asset owners in managing technical and commercial risk throughout the lifecycle of built assets.

Required Qualifications

  • Are a newly Chartered Building Surveyor or are working towards your MRICS qualification, with demonstrable experience post-graduation
  • Experience undertaking building surveys, condition inspections and preparing technical reports
  • Understanding of building construction, building defects and maintenance requirements
  • Ability to collect, analyse and present technical information clearly and accurately
  • Good written communication skills with the ability to prepare concise and professional reports
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experience within the education, healthcare, local authority, defence, or commercial property sectors
  • Exposure to technical due diligence, asset condition surveys, or project monitoring services
  • An interest in developing a career in technical advisory services, supporting investors, funders, government bodies, and asset owners in managing technical and commercial risk throughout the lifecycle of built assets
  • Can motivate yourself to achieve the vision, values, and objectives of WSP and those of our clients
  • Can self-perform to maximise your contribution and achieve appropriate high-quality and timely delivery of our services
  • Can demonstrate commitment to the achievement of team/business unit objectives and plans
