Job Summary
Implement lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the absent teacher while maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment. Deliver lessons according to the established curriculum, adapting methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Foster student engagement, supervise students during class time and transitions, and ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators, providing feedback on daily activities and reporting issues or concerns to the regular teacher or school administration. Adhere to school and district policies, including emergency procedures, and demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions. Utilize classroom materials and technology as specified, leaving the room organized for the returning teacher.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test
- Ability to quickly establish rapport with students and adapt to different classroom settings
- Strong classroom management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with the school's policies and procedures
- Flexibility and adaptability to different teaching assignments
- Completed background check and clearance
- Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day
