Job Summary
Building Structural Engineer I for Michael Baker International’s National Integrative Design & Advisory team in Salt Lake City. You will analyze design criteria and client requirements, prepare calculations for structural engineering construction drawings and specifications for building and non-building projects, interpret data, prepare technical specifications, provide engineering and project support to the Designer of Record (DOR) and act as DOR as required. Responsibilities include delivering projects on time and within budget, providing redlines for EITs and BIM designers, reviewing design calculations, handling multiple projects, following MBI standards, reviewing submittals and RFIs, and contributing to proposal production. Requires 4+ years of structural engineering experience, PE/SE licensure, proficiency with FEA software and relevant design codes, and strong communication skills; periodic travel is anticipated.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural or Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years of structural engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE)
- Proficiency with FEA Software and structural design codes
- Experience with seismic and wind engineering
- Proficiency with RAM SS, RISA 3D, Tekla Structural Designer, Enercalc, Microsoft Excel, MS Office Suite
- Familiar with structural design codes such as IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, AISC, TMS, and ACI
- Familiar with ETABS and Revit preferred
- Familiar with Unified Facilities Criteria and UFGS
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Maintain professional licensure in state which employee resides
- Available for periodic travel
