Job Summary
Building Structure Director responsible for planning, supervising, and developing structural engineering activities, ensuring technical quality, budget/schedule compliance, and growth of the team and business portfolio in the Gatineau and Outaouais region; lead and mentor engineers/technicians; ensure design, verification, and drawings for steel, concrete, wood, and mixed structures; participate in strategic planning and business development; coordinate with architecture and MEP/Civil teams; ensure compliance with QBC, CSA standards, and municipal requirements; supervise technical specifications, reports, and cost estimates; recruit, train, and evaluate staff; stay updated on technical and regulatory developments; offers relocation bonus; hybrid work policy; competitive compensation package; BIM and modern collaborative tools; focus on balance, well-being, and inclusion.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering with structural option
- Active member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- 10–15 years of structural engineering experience with at least 5 years in a management/technical director role
- Proficiency in design software: ETABS, SAP2000, ADA, SAFI
- Strong knowledge of Québec Building Code (QBC) and CSA standards
- Experience in design verification and drawings for steel, concrete, wood, and mixed structures
- Experience in coordinating with architecture, mechanical, electrical and civil departments
- Ability to lead, mentor, recruit, train, and evaluate structural department staff
- Strong client relations and cost estimating capabilities
- Commitment to continuous improvement and adoption of best practices
- Flexibility to work in a hybrid environment
- Relocation to Gatineau considered for the right candidate
