Job Summary
Building Services Engineer role based at a premium commercial office near Liverpool Street with occasional travel to a satellite site in Chelmsford. You will maintain and support a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services, perform planned and reactive maintenance, monitor BMS/alarm systems, support UPS and critical infrastructure, complete statutory inspections, and ensure safety and compliance. The position emphasizes independent work, client-facing communication, and collaboration within a small on-site engineering team. Key tasks include PPM, fault finding across HVAC/ME systems (AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, pumps, motors), CAFM data updates, permits to work, site inspections, and supporting subcontractors. Essential qualifications include City & Guilds credentials and Legionella L8 awareness, with an emphasis on hands-on mechanical/electrical engineering experience in a facilities management or commercial maintenance environment.
Required Qualifications
- Trade background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- City & Guilds standard or equivalent
- City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 & 3 (Electrical) or equivalent
- City & Guilds 6035 Level 3 (Mechanical/Plumbing) or equivalent
- Legionella L8 Awareness (or willingness to undertake training)
- Experience in Building Services, Facilities Management, or Commercial Maintenance environments
- Experience with planned and reactive maintenance
- Knowledge of HVAC plant, BMS systems, emergency lighting, and compliance activities
- Experience using CAFM systems and digital maintenance platforms
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
