Job Summary
Assess water-related and building envelope service calls to determine infiltration locations and causes. Document water leaks indicating sources for trade repair and complete roof repairs, water, and damp-proofing as required. Participate in rooftop preventative maintenance programs and inspect roof flashings and exterior building envelope aspects. Assist with sourcing materials, tools, and coordinate external supplier work for new installations or repairs. Respond to work orders and discretionary assignments from academic and administrative units while maintaining organized operations. Ensure facility compliance with applicable legislation, codes, and standards through active health and safety practices. This role supports the Plant Operations goal of providing a safe, accessible, and well-maintained campus environment.
Required Qualifications
- A G License / Driver's Abstract
- Red Seal Certification
- Minimum of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Licensed Roofer – 449A Red seal with Certificate Qualification and Certificate of Apprenticeship in the Province of Ontario
- Minimum of five (5) years recent experience as a Roofer
- Sound mathematical skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings/specifications
- Ability to make accurate material takeoffs and estimates
- Ability to write summary reports of condition assessment surveys when necessary
- Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario class 'G' driver's license
- Fully conversant in the Ontario Building Code
- Fully conversant in the Ontario Fire Code
- Understanding of job safety procedures
- Ability to properly use required PPE

- Work experience within major institutional sector(s), such as education, post-secondary education, medical/ hospital, or related construction industry
