Job Summary
Building Science Engineer works with the Building Science and Restoration team to provide subject matter expertise in developing building envelope solutions and leading projects in Northern Alberta. The successful candidate engages with clients and contractors on active construction sites, delivering practical, creative building envelope solutions. Responsibilities include managing envelope projects from investigation through construction, conducting site investigations and condition assessments of envelope systems (facades, cladding, roofing, glazing, waterproofing, air/vapour barriers), diagnosing performance issues (water infiltration, condensation, air leakage, thermal bridging, material deterioration), developing rehabilitation, repair, and renewal strategies, preparing technical reports and recommendations, designing envelope details and specifications, coordinating with other disciplines, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, providing construction review and contract administration, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting business development. Professional qualifications emphasize a Civil Engineering degree, eligibility for APEGA, and minimum 5 years in related work, with strong communication, project management, and client-relations skills. Locations include Edmonton, AB, CAN. At least one entry indicates Full-time employment within Canada.,
Required Qualifications
- Civil Engineering degree (or related discipline) from an accredited university
- Registered with or eligible for registration with APEGA
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building envelope consulting or building science
- Experience with building envelope investigations, remediation design, and construction review
- Strong understanding of building envelope systems, materials, and performance principles
- Ability to integrate building science concepts with practical, constructible solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
