Job Summary
Greet visitors, students, and buses upon arrival, then monitor campus locations including hallways, lunchrooms, and entry points to control access and remove individuals as needed. Navigate and observe the security camera system, while overseeing the open-gate weapons detection system. Assist administrators and teachers by supervising students during passing times, escorting students in commons areas, and reinforcing discipline concepts. Walk long distances throughout the building to manage behaviors in common areas and support the safety and security mission of Columbia Public School District.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent
- Missouri Substitute teaching certificate
- Ability to walk long distances
- Ability to watch video camera footage for long periods of time
- Positive and appropriate communication skills
- Read, comprehend, and produce written and oral instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Communicate one-on-one and in small groups
- Add, subtract multiply and divide using units of American money, weight, volume and distance
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Solve problems involving concrete variables within standardized situations
- Perform basic computer skills including word processing and data entry
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with others while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Demonstrate excellent oral, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrate excellent listening skills
- Consistent and regular attendance
- Ability to run short or long distances and be able to respond quickly in physically demanding situations
- Ability to speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously
- Move around the building to interact with and manage students/groups of students/visitors
- Read handwritten or printed material
