Building Plans Examiner and/or Inspector

Job Summary
Conduct examination of building permit applications, blueprints, and shop drawings for compliance with the Florida Building Code and related regulations. Issue verbal and written notices of code violation and citations, while recognizing and resolving unique technical problems. Prepare written and electronic reports, maintain required records, and interact with design professionals, contractors, and property owners regarding code issues and review procedures. Perform general administrative duties including attending meetings, filing documents, and answering inquiries. Travel as required for inspections and project management in the assigned area.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed General Contractor's for a minimum of five (5) years
- State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building
- State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building
- ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/ or Inspection certification in building
- knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development
- Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and projects under construction to verify conformance with code requirements
- Some travel may be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area
